Majority of Construction Sites Are Now Open Again
Trade body Build UK has announced that 86% of major construction sites in England and Wales are now reopened.
Amongst Build UK’s members are Balfour Beatty, Kier, Skanska, Mace, Willmott Dixon and Morgan Sindall.
They also announced that output has generally increased to 75%, with London still facing some challenges where output is at 68%.
It’s a very different story in Scotland though, with less than 20% of construction sites open.
Sophie Hurst, Managing Director of Integrity Software, said: “It’s great to see so many major contractors returning to work. The past couple of months have been presented a huge challenge for the construction industry, so hopefully this is a good sign of things to come.”
She went on to say: “Lots of our customers have been planning the safe reopening of their sites, and it’s great to see the whole supply chain working together to facilitate a safe return to work.”
It’s reported that construction firms are looking to bring back furloughed workers too to further increase output.
