Created in 1961, Trilectric Ltd has been providing a quality engineering service for over 40 years. Trilectric specialise in designing, building and maintaining electrical installations throughout the United Kingdom.

In the last ten to fifteen years, Trilectric have grown dramatically and built on their reputation as a brand leader in the construction industry, increasing their turnover by 500%. They put their success down to their strong focus on quality, service and engineering excellence.

The company enjoys regular repeat business from their clients - a sure sign of customer satisfaction. They have carried out work for many major brand names including BP, Nestlé, the Football Association (new Head Quarters in Soho Square) and T- Mobile (Head Quarters in Hatfield) as well as working in many notable London offices such as the BT Tower, Canary Wharf and the Gherkin.

The challenge

• Lack of flexibility in existing solution
• Need for 100% accuracy and 100% reliability

Trilectric have been using accounting software packages for many years. Historically the company successfully used MICABuild for 14 years before having to change suppliers as support was being discontinued. The following four years proved to be a real headache for Trilectric with their accounting software.

Lack of flexibility

The company attempted to set up two different packages, both were trialled and both failed to be adaptable enough for their business. The shortcomings of the packages included lack of flexibility to adapt the product to fit their requirements, unfulfilled promises regarding the software capabilities and endless bugs causing problems.

The solution

Trilectric were already familiar with many of the team at Mardak Ltd (now at Integrity Software) as they had been key personnel in the creation and support of the MICABuild product. As Trilectric had always been happy with both the product and the support from MICABuild they were confident that with many of the same personnel in place, Evolution M (Mardak) would be offering a good solution.

After a meeting with Martin Woolger, Sales Director at Integrity Software, to discuss their requirements, the decision was made to proceed with Mardak and purchase a 5 user system; the company have never looked back!

Jeff Harrison, Financial and Commercial Director of Trilectric, commented, “From the outset, the team at Mardak Ltd and in particular our Project Manager for the migration and installation processes, took the time to understand exactly what we required from the software. Previous suppliers had expected us to adapt and compromise our accounts to suit their package, however with the flexibility of Evolution M (Mardak) we have not had to compromise on any part of our wish list.”

The result

Trilectric decided on a “go live” date of 1st January 2007, to coincide with their year end date of 31st December 2006. Following a successful test run of live data in November, the process of installation and migration “ran seamlessly” according to Jeff.

100% accuracy, 100% reliability

Trilectric knew they had to look at a new software solution and wanted a package that would offer 100% accuracy and 100% reliability, however were apprehensive about the magnitude of the task following their two previous attempts.

Refreshing training programme

Included in the contract were 5 days of training on Evolution M (Mardak) construction accounts software and they found this more than sufficient to be up and running on the software. “The training process was really refreshing! I’ve always looked for three key requirements from a trainer;

(i) to understand the product
(ii) to understand our requirements from the product and
(iii) to be enthusiastic.

This has been the first time I have experienced a company offering all three!

Our trainer quickly understood what we needed from the software and we were able to adapt the training to suit all of our users’ needs. He was genuinely enthusiastic and excited to be working with the package and had an extremely thorough understanding of the software.

Renewed accounting confidence

Like all the staff at Integrity Software he took a genuine interest in our company and ensured that we were happy every step of the way.” Trilectric are now enjoying working with a fully functional and reliable accounting package, something they have not been able to do for years. “

Like many companies we have limited resources, finally we are able to devote more time to developing our business, rather than dealing with constant bugs and obstacles the previous systems posed us.

Integrity Software have fulfilled all the commitments and assurances which they made to us at the outset and the system offers us everything that we require. The time it saves us in the office is highly valuable and it puts into perspective just how difficult and demanding of our resources the previous software had been, in particular facilities such as the cheque runs are so much quicker now. We have also received nothing but positive comments from our staff using the product, in particular the excellent enquiry screens with quick and easy drill down enquiries and reports.

As we are a recent live client, we have not had to call on the services of the support team a great deal, however when we have, we are able to speak directly to a “human being”, not only that, but ones who are well informed, efficient and extremely helpful. Any queries or problems have been dealt with promptly and effectively – what more could we ask for?”

The whole process of moving to Mardak (now Evolution M) has been a much easier and more relaxed process than we ever anticipated.
