2017 Construction Events to Add to Your Diaries
A new year means new events to look forward to! Maybe you’re excited about business expansion plans, or starting work on a lucrative new project - or perhaps you’re hoping that 2017 will be the year that you upgrade your construction software!
Of course, construction professionals should look beyond their company when planning their year - there are hundreds, if not thousands, of incredible construction industry events that are certainly worth attending.
These range from small local meetups to huge national trade shows. We’ve picked out some of the top construction events of 2017 in the UK (and one in Ireland) that you might like to add to your diaries.
The UK Concrete Show - 15-16th February (NEC Birmingham)
All things concrete take over Hall 5 of Birmingham’s NEC this February with the return of Europe’s largest specialist concrete event: the UK Concrete Show. The 2017 event will be the seventh edition of the show, and the organisers hope to build on the huge success of previous years.
Last year, organisers estimate that £14 million of business was completed at the show, with nearly 200 exhibitors and 198 product categories on display. Visitors will also get to view live demos of new products and receive help from a specialist technical advice clinic.
Entry is free for trade visitors.
Ecobuild 2017- 7th-9th March (Excel, London)
One of the biggest eco-building trade shows in the world returns to London’s Excel this March. In 2016, over 30,000 industry professionals and experts attended Ecobuild, with speakers including national treasure Stephen Fry.
This year, the show theme is ‘regeneration’ - topics include housing estate regeneration, future energy provision, and urban transport innovation. With events, talks, and demos taking place across five venues, industry professionals will certainly find that their time away from the office was worth it!
Attendance is free for industry professionals.
National Construction Summit - 14th June (RDS, Dublin)
2017 sees the return of one of the biggest construction events in Ireland: the National Construction Summit. The event not only sees dozens of exhibitors set up their stalls, but an incredibly packed programme of seminars and lectures across seven venues.
Top speakers include Damien English TD, the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, and Tom Parlon, Director General of the Construction Industry Federation. Topics explored in the event’s programme include sustainability, market and business intelligence, and skills, careers and training.
With the 2016 event attracting over 2000 delegates and this year’s impressive line-up of speakers, the National Construction Summit is surely worth a visit this June if you’re in the Dublin area.
Entry is free for trade visitors.
UK Construction Week - 10th-12th October (NEC Birmingham)
Take another trip to the NEC to attend (or exhibit at) the UK’s largest construction trade show. With nine trade shows under one roof, 650 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors, this is a must-attend event for anyone in the construction industry who’s within reach of Birmingham.
Details for the 2017 show haven’t yet been announced, but exhibitors can enquire now.
Attendance is free.
